So yesterday was day 1 of my Wii Fit orientated New Year fitness routine to lose that weight that I put on over Christmas. I think what I’ll do each day is give a breakdown of what I ate and drank, what exercise I did I roughly what I think my calorie gain/deficit for the day has been. Hopefully the next time I weigh myself all these figures should equate to some weight loss.
So here goes with yesterday’s calorie intake:-
1 bowl of rice crispies cereal – 220 cals
1 large bowl of corn flakes cereal – 280 cals
1 spaghetti bolognaise with cheese and meatballs – 1200 cals
1 cup of tea (1 sugar) – 35 cals
5 glasses water
So all in I make that to be 1735 calories. I had my breakfast at about 20 past 8 in the morning and then my lunch at around 1 o’clock. I was drinking water steadily all morning and besides was very busy at work. The afternoon again I was steadily drinking water and although hungry by 6 o’clock I wasn’t anything like “starving”. By keeping busy and drinking water I avoided any need to snack. Loved the spag bol, didn’t really skimp on the portion size much but never mind.
The only exercise I did yesterday was as promised on the Wii Fit. Overall I spent 48 minutes exercising (according to my Polar heart monitor). This equated to 40 minutes of Wii Fit time during which I burnt 510 calories.
My routine was this:-
1 x Around the island run
2 x 10 Minute rhythm boxing
1 x 6 minutes hula (3 minutes each way)
That was it! Not a lot really but 510 calories in 40 minutes of physical exertion is not bad at all. I know from my body type that on an “average” day my body needs around 2100 calories (without dedicated exercise). So if I add the extra 510 to that that gives me a calorie burn for the day of around 2610. Take away the 1735 calories I ate and I can see that by my own rough calculations I’ve burnt about 875 calories. Keep that up for the next 2 weeks and I’m looking at over 12,000 calories in 2 weeks which should be enough to meet my weight target.
