I know that this is a common problem! It’s oh so simple to work out those prominent muscles like you biceps, triceps and shoulders but it’s much harder to target your forearms and wrists. You end up looking pumped up from your elbows back and nobody wants’ that right?
I was suffering from just this problem. No matter what combination of machine and free weights I was using my forearms never seemed to get any bigger. Toned yes but bigger no. On catching sight of myself in the mirror I began to notice just how bad this looked so decided to remedy it. After much surfing and asking of experts (both in the gym and on forums) what was recommended to me is what I’m going to recommend to you. Buy yourself a Power Ball!
So What’s A Power Ball And How Does It Give Me A Forearm Workout?
A Power Ball is a hand held gyro that with the right motions spin up to provide awesome amounts of resistance. This increases grip strength, wrist strength and if done correctly gives an amazing forearm workout. Best of all it only takes a few minutes a day and you can do it from the comfort of your desk. You start the Power Ball with a rip cord (similar to starting an old petrol engine) you then hold it and rotate your wrist. Slowly at first. As you start to feel the resistance you then narrow the motion of your wrist until it feels as if you’re hardly moving. At this point your hand, wrist and forearm will be aching as it feels like you are trying to hold the leash of a 20 stone dog! In fact if you’re good enough you might be able to get your Power Ball up to 14,000 revolutions per minute!
I’ve been using my Power Ball now most days since Christmas. In that time everything below my elbow on both sides of my body has gained significant strength. I’ve noticed this especially with my grip when doing pull-ups. My grip is certainly no longer the week point. Perhaps most importantly to those people looking for a forearm workout though is that fact that I’ve also increased the size of my forearms. On the left side a little under half an inch, on the right side a full half inch. It doesn’t sound much but in appearance terms (combined with the extra toning) it makes a big difference.
As a value-for-money piece of fitness equipment I think you’d be hard pushed to beat a Power Ball. It’s so good that I’ve just ordered a second so that I can 2 on the go at once. Yes, it does become addictive.
