I always had a feeling that the weekends were where my weight loss plans would make or break. Friday has a long tradition of being take-away night on our house, it was made even worse last Friday by my wife and daughter not being home leaving me with the option of cooking for one (something I find much harder than cooking for the family) or getting on phone and having something delivered. In the end my will power held out (for the most part) and I settled on a compromise. Fish and chips with peas but instead of having them delivered I made my own. Fresh cod fillet done in the oven with oven chips and garden peas instead of the mushy, salty fatty variety. All in all a very tasty meal but with only a fraction of the calories of the deep fried everything you get from the local chippy.
Saturday I managed to do ok, I have lots of work on at the moment so headed to the office via the gym. It was much like any other work day and by keeping busy there was no temptation to snack. I even managed several pints of water during the day. Dinner was quite big (Sausage and mash) but everything was fresh and cooked as healthily as possible so for my first Saturday I was quite pleased.
Sunday was where the wheels came of a bit, was bored during the afternoon so ate a packet of crisps and had a not so healthy sandwich for lunch. We like to have a roast on a Sunday and even though I cut down on the portion a bit I still had that feeling by the end of that day that I’d over ate. A pint of water before bed managed to make me feel a bit better.
