Day 8 of my campaign to lose some weight and it’s back to the gym again.  I’ve got into a good routine now that involves me doing 30 minutes on a cross trainer (covering 5 kilometres) 3 sets of 40 sit-ups and  10 minutes of various light weight work.  I’m consistently burning around 600 calories and have upped my fat burn from 35% at my first attempt to 45% now.  Slow and steady has been better for me obviously.  Food wise I had a home made burger and chips last night, probably not the healthiest meal in the world but very nice it was too.

Talking of slow and steady and motivation I noticed today that the gym was almost empty.  This time last week it was packed with people but other than what looked like 3 regulars I had the place to myself today.  It’s not that I’m complaining (it makes it much easier to stick to a routine when you’re not waiting for equipment) but I was a bit disappointed to see so many people forgetting about their New Years Resolutions so early.  Yes it requires some will power to get of your bum and to the gym but the post exercise buzz makes it worth while, in my opinion anyway.  We’re only 15 days into the new year and people seem to be giving up, are people just soft these days, do we have things too easy?  Even if losing weight and getting fit isn’t motivation enough I’d go just to get value for money out of my £30 a month gym fees!
