I’m sorry for not posting every day but it’s been a crazy weekend. As with so many of the best laid plans so often in life, life gets in the way! So my plan was to move office on Friday night, unfortunately due to a few technical problems this ended up taking much longer than I thought.

So anyway, enough excuses, here’s how my News Year diet and exercise regime has faired over the last 3 days.

Friday. Breakfast was cereal, lunch was a big bowl of cereal. For my dinner I had sausage, chips, peas and gravy (If anyone is wondering why I’m eating so many sausages lately it’s because the wife and daughter are away and there are a lot of sausages in the fridge that need using up :) ) Anyway after dinner I went back and started moving furniture around. I didn’t do any set exercise on Friday, but neither did I drink anything but water. Anyhoo in terms of calories I’m going with 210+300+1000=1510 for my consumption and I reckon I burnt about 2300 (my usual 2100 + a few hundred extra for the several hours I was lugging furniture around).

Saturday was to be quite honest, bad. It started OK with a nice bog bowl of Corn Flakes. Unfortunately I was still having problems with the office move so that meant I spent most of the day trying to get computers to talk to each other. Lunch had to be on the move so I had a bacon bap. Because I’d missed my slow release carbs for lunch by dinner time I was starving, I decided to play my Chinese card. I was always going to allow myself 1 over this 2 weeks and that’s it gone now. So for Saturday I reckon I consumed 280+500+2000= 2780 calories. I was necking water after the Chinese, it really helps with the digestion. Trust me! Because I spent most of the day glued to a computer my calorie burn was probably crap for Saturday, I’m going to say 1800 calories.

Finally we have yesterday, another chaotic day as I was still messing with networks and also had to go and pick the girls up from the airport. Again I had no time for any exercise, no Wii Fit for 3 days! Luckily I ate well, cereal for breakfast and lunch with mashed potato, sausage (if I never see another sausage again it will be too soon, no more BOGOFs) etc etc All in all quite a healthy day food wise. 210+300+900 calories makes 1410 for the day. It wasn’t much of an activity filled day but I was a little more active than Saturday so I’m going to estimate 1900 calories burnt.

So there you have it, not a great weekend by ant stretch of the imagination. Total calories burnt = 6000. Total calories consumed = 5700. Gives me a total deficit for the 3 days of 300 calories! That’s a bit crap really.

The really important thing here is not to be to put off. Very rarely does life just let things run smoothly and “to your plan”. Take knockbacks in your stride, the real test is how you react to them. Today I’m bang back on form, I’ve had me cereal this morning and already done an hour on the Wii Fit. My goals are still well within target.
