It all got of to a bad start yesterday when without realising we ran out of cereal, so no breakfast for me then! Instead (and because I’m a huge believer in putting “something” in your stomach early doors) I decided to have a glass of milk. The idea was to then have some breakfast when I was at work but it was a bit of a mental morning and I was far too busy to stop to eat. Lunchtime I was back on track though with my cereal and by the evening I was more than ready for my dinner. To be fair though I wasn’t hungry to the point where I felt like snacking, I think the key to this is to keep yourself busy and more importantly to drink lots of water. If you’re doing something similar but feel like you’re hungry all the time then the chances are you’re not drinking enough water.

So anyway my daily calorie intake for yesterday:-

1 x glass of milk – 80 calories
1 x large bowl of corn flakes – 280 calories
1 x chips, burger and peas with gravy – 1300 calories
2 x cup of tea (with 1 sugar) – 70 calories

On top of that I drank 6 glasses of water.

My exercise yesterday was again done on the Wii. I stuck to the same routine that I’d done the day before BUT just as a test I though I’d see what happened if I just took it easy. There are people bitching left and right about how Wii Fit is a gimmick but I’m positive it’s all down to how much effort you put in to it. Yesterday I was quite lax about the whole thing.

1 x Around the island run
2 x 10 Minute rhythm boxing
1 x 6 minutes hula (3 minutes each way)

The day before I burnt 510 calories doing that, yesterday I only burnt 430. The difference being in the amount of effort I put in. Still in 40-50 minutes of exercise that is respectable.

So time for the maths. My total calorie intake for the day was about 1730 calories. My exercise burned 430 calories and onto that I can add the 2100 that it takes to keep my body going. All in all my calorie deficit for the day was (2100+430) – 1730 = 800 calories. Not quite as good as day 1 but still not bad at all.

Two days in and I’m still feeling very good about it. I’m not getting that hungry, just the right amount to really enjoy my evening meal but nothing uncomfortable. The great news as well is that after only a few days I’m already starting to feel much better and fitter within myself. Exercise really helps with that and even doing the little bit I am is a great improvement over the days/weeks spent on my ass over Christmas.
