Following on from yesterday and my new fitness goals I decided to see just how far I could go on a cross-trainer in 30 minutes today. My overall aim is to do 12 kilometres in 1 hour so my plan was to hit the 6km mark. There was some good news and some bad news.
The Good News
I did 6 kilometres in 28 minutes and 32 seconds. That proves that I’ve got the pace to actually do 12 kilometres an hour so that’s a relief. In half an hour I did a total of 6.3 kilometres.
The Bad News
I was shattered. Not a normal tiredness shattered but more a sort of completely wrecked shattered. There is no way I could have kept up that pace for another half hour, certainly not at my current fitness levels.
So there you have it, I’ve got the speed just not the stamina, I sort of figured it would be like that. Now I need to work on my endurance so that I can keep that 92 RPM speed up for longer. My plan of attack here is going to be to keep on doing the 30 minutes at that pace until it eventually starts to become easier. I can then stretch out the time further and see if I can keep the pace longer. Eventually I hope I’ll be able to keep it going for the full hour.
