I was in the gym this morning, nothing unsual in that you might think, however amongst the regular patch work of posters and adverts there was a new one. It read along the lines “Only 18% of adults do enough regular exercise for it to be beneficial to their health. DO NOT let your hard work go to waste over Christmas, hire one of our personal trainers now, 25% for the month of December!”

Alarmist? Just a bit! The idea of this advert is of course to make you think that unless you hire a personal trainer for that difficult Christmas period you’re going to put on a load of weight and spoil all your good work. Well as far as I’m concerned, any diet and exercise regime that is to have long term goals has to be sustainable. That means in order to keep it going you’ve got to also be able to have a break every now and then and that’s exactly what Christmas is about.

I hardly drink at all these days but over Christmas I shall be out and about. I’ll also not be worrying too much (if at all) about what I eat. I certainly won’t be feeling guilty about it. I’ve spent the last 11 months working my ass off and I’ve done good. I’m going to enjoy Christmas as much as I can because I know that it only lasts a few days. Heck it’s only a week or so even if you include New Year, it’ll be over before you know it and then it’ll be January. The time of the dreaded New Years Resolution. Whatever I put on (and I will put on weight, no point expecting anything else) I will soon lose again. My lifestyle is just that, a lifestyle, not a diet or fad. If you’re setting yourself long term fitness and weight goals don’t ever be afraid to have a good time, the time when you start seeing it is a punishment is the time you’ll start to doubt. Doubt soon turns to resentment which sooner or later turns to you calling it a day.

If you’re feeling fatigued no matter how much sleep you get or bloated no matter how much you diet, then you may need a body detox to increase your Health and Wellness. Even if you eat healthy foods, waste products can build up in your system, and leave you feeling tired and drained. In this article we’ll talk about how a body detoxification program can put you on the road to a healthier life and better Fitness.

Body detox diets are based on the premise that the food you consume contains a range of harmful substances which is just bad Nutrition. These substances accumulate in your body and cause fatigue, headaches, nausea and even disease. There are a countless number of diets available. The basic idea is to temporarily give up certain foods that are thought to contain “toxins,” such as meat, sugar certain grains, dairy and caffeine. These diets typically start with fasting followed by a strict diet of raw vegetables, fruit and fruit juices and water. The best diet is one based on fruits and vegetables, whole grains, lean sources of protein and unsaturated fats. Add regular exercise and stress reduction techniques, and you have a solid foundation for good health.

A cleansing and detoxification program will sometimes advocate using herbal laxatives, natural detoxification, and a natural colon cleanse to flush out the intestine and liver. The duration of such regimens often ranges from seven to 10 days. Some people report they feel better and are more focused and energetic during and after detox diets. This may be due to their belief that they are doing something good for their body, But it may also be due to not eating much — if anything — for more than several days. Calorie restriction can lead to heightened feelings of psychological well-being.

No everyone believes that there are benefits to a body detox. In fact, there is little medical evidence to support that these diets work. Most toxins in the body removed by the kidneys and liver and excreted in urine and stool. The side effects can be dangerous. Early side effects of fasting include headaches, but prolonged fasting or severe calorie restriction can result in anemia, low blood sugar and irregular heartbeat. You should consult a doctor before fasting or undergoing a detox program.

If you’re concerned about your lack of energy then consult a doctor before you begin a body detox to make sure that you don’t have an illness that requires treatment. There are a variety of ways to cleanse your system of toxins such as a detox body wrap, liver cleansing, detox teas and a variety of other detoxification product’s. Be sure that you fuel your body well and get plenty of sleep. It’s the best way to give your body that energy boost.

In a 2006 University of Florida study, six different chemical extracts were made from acai fruit pulp. Out of the those, 4 of the extracts killed 86% of leukemia cells.

Sales of acai products have increased dramatically in the U.S. where it has been touted as a metabolism booster, weight reducer and athletic enhancer. Advertisements use buzzwords such as health, wellness, energy, taste and organ enhancer.

Long before the Portuguese colonized Brazil, the oily purple berry of the açai palm tree was a every day food for the Amazonians. Today, acai juice is a global “super food. However, large demand has increased the price in Belem, the epicenter of the açai trade. The city’s 1.3 million residents consume an estimated 200,000 liters of açai each day, making it more popular than milk.

Researchers say the findings show the need for more research on the berry which is commonly used in juices, beverages, smoothies, frozen treats and dietary supplements. There are a lot of acai juice benefits that will help your health.

In a recent study of varying acai varieties to see antioxidant levels, a white species displayed no antioxidant activity against different oxygen radicals, whereas the purple variety most often used commercially was excellent against peroxyl radicals, good against peroxynitrite and poor against hydroxyl radicals

Try Acai Juice and be on the fast track to the healthy life. Acai juice contains many phytonutrients and antioxidants as well as a significant blend of trace vitamins and minerals. A lot of men have said they have improved digestion and focus from drinking acai juice.

Acai juice is a fountain of youth in other ways as well. It increases libido in men and women so that they will have the sexual appetites of much younger people. If you drink acai juice, your skin will be more supple and youthful-looking. People even report having less trouble with warts when taking it on a regular basis.

Acai juice is made from acai berries. They are native, acai berries, to tropical Central and South America. They grow in the wild in the palms of the Brazilian rainforest. Acai juice is very nutritional and provides a lot of supplements. Living in a world which contains a lot of diseases, acai juice can be a powerful juice that can help with fighting them. Acai juice is packed with a lot of disease-fighting antioxidants. It is said that acai berries, which are used to make acai juice, contain more disease-fighting antioxidants than any other fruit on we can find on Earth. It is definitely a nutritional supplement for anyone, but especially for those that practice a healthy diet.

Açaí is particularly rich in fatty acids and even feels oily to the touch. It contains high levels of the monounsaturated fatty acid oleic acid (56.2% of total fats). It is also rich in palmitic acid (24.1% of total fats, a saturated fat) and the polyunsaturated omega-6 fatty acid linoleic acid (12.5% of total fats). It is also rich in β-sitosterol (beta-sitosterol), a phytosterol that competes with dietary cholesterol for absorption and so may reduce blood cholesterol levels

Who’d have believed it? 2 weeks! Two bloody weeks is all it took to go from having a nice tight stomach to a soft jiggly belly.

It’s not like I gave up the gym totally for those 2 weeks either, I was still going but only once or twice instead of my usual five or six times routine. I actually work on my stomach quite hard, a usual routine would involve 30 normal sit-ups, 40 sit-ups on each side, another 20 normal sit-ups followed by another 15 on each side finally topped of with yet another 25 normal sit-ups. Once rested I then go on to do 3 sets of 15 leg raises and finally just before I warm down I do 30 inverted sit-ups. I do this each and every time I go to the gym. You should try it, it works well to tone your main abs but also sucks in those problem side areas and love handles.

After 2 months of this I had a solid stomach, ripped all the way down but like I said it’s only taken 2 weeks to go soft. I wonder if I’m abnormal in this, do other people suffer the same? If you’re not doing your sit-ups ever day how long does it take you to go fat and jiggly?

Chi3 is an amazing breakthrough in the energy drink market. You’ll feel alert, focused, and ready to go without the jitters or the sugar crash that can come from drinking high-calorie canned energy drinks.

I have personally been using Chi3 for a month, and I have experienced amazing effects. I have more energy throughout the day and I have even lost weight because as a side effect, the product actually curbs your appetite.

Chi3 delivers a smooth long-lasting energy with B vitamins and amino acids with the splash of green tea and the clinically proven GoChi juice. These metabolism enhancing properties are combined to create an amazing energy drink that actually works.

With Chi3 Energy, you won’t experience the sugar and caffeine crash that you do with other energy drinks like Red Bull or Monster. Chi3 has significantly less caffeine and sugar than all other energy drinks. Even has an ounce of the clinically proven goji juice product called GoChi.

Chi3 actually wakes up your brain which increases your energy naturally, while at the same time boosting athletic performance. The green tea ingredient supplies a natural source of caffeine so instead of artificial caffeine you are getting a healthy dose of natural caffeine is better for your body. [/spin}

a lot of people have heard negative press about other energy drinks that contain huge amounts of caffeine and sugar along with other herbal stimulants like guarana and ginesg. Chi3 contains a small amount of caffeine that is equal to about a cup of coffee.

Chi3 will make you feel more alert, more focused, and more refreshed within minutes. Unlike the energy drinks which have high amounts of sugar and caffeine, Chi3 Energy will make you nervous. The blend of ingredients will energize you, nourish your mind, enhance your mood, improve your performance, and just give you the right lift that you need.

All these clinical proven attributes are included in Chi3 — and this is the game changer because no other energy drink can boast of an ingredient like this.

Chi3 is actually an energy drink that is good for you which is a sharp contrast to the other energy drinks on the market which provide unhealthy doses of sugar and caffeine. It is also the only energy drink that has GoChi in it which is clinically proven to do a number of beneficial things for your body. Chi3 is not available in stores and can only be obtained for Freelife distributor, for more information go to the Chi3 Energy blog.

We need protein in our diet to stay strong and healthy. If we don’t eat enough our bodies will steal it from our muscles and organs. In fact, protein is essential for the development of our muscles, which lead to an increase in the burning of calories. Our muscles could be described as fat furnaces as they keep our metabolism running high. And protein is very good at curbing appetite and balancing blood sugar in contrast to many “fast release” carbohydrate based foods and snacks.

Protein also helps reduce carbohydrate cravings. Carbohydrates, especially sweets and starches, can trigger the brain to crave more of the same–which leads to a vicious cycle of overeating. Protein foods help block cravings. When you eat protein with healthy carbohydrates, such as fruits, vegetables and whole grains, the protein will keep you satisfied, while reducing your cravings for sweets and starches. This makes protein a powerful ally in your quest to lose weight.

Protein comes in the form of meat, soy products, cheese and dairy products. However, most of these are in the form of animal proteins, which add greatly to the bad cholesterol in our bodies. Therefore we need to look for high quality proteins, in our diet, from non-animal sources.Protein-enriched meal replacement shakes, protein supplement powders and high protein low carbohydrate snack products, contain protein sources which are easily absorbed and assimilated, and which allow you to reach your body’s protein requirements without those unwanted calories.

And for those concerned about Cholesterol levels? The inclusion of at least 25g Soya protein per day as part a diet low in saturated fats can help reduce blood cholesterol.

There is nothing in this world like a glass of cold water! Not only does it make you feel better, it also keeps your body healthy unlike its alcoholic counterparts! So, how do you keep water cool? A dispenser, also known as a water cooler, is your best option. It is widely used and is popular worldwide providing fresh drinking water whenever required. There are three different types of water coolers – bottle type water coolers, fountain type dispensers and bottle-less coolers– all meant to be used in various places within your daily life. So, are you thirsty to know more? Read on…

Wall mounted water coolers:

This is the commonest of the coolers and can be found in homes, offices, and airports. The refrigeration runs on electricity and it helps keep the water being stored within the machine, cool. The unused water is usually disposed off in the building waste system. The mechanics of this cooler is pretty simple – when you want to have a sip, you press a button which calls into action a spring loaded valve and you get cold water from the storage unit for as long as you hold the button. It is hassle proof and instant since you don’t have to wait for the water to appear at the nozzle.

Bottled Water Coolers:

These are very common in households where the aqua-guard hasn’t been installed yet. This water cooler is mainly composed of a large 4-5 gallon plastic water bottle that is placed on top of the unit in an inverted position. You can choose what sort of unit you want – ones dispensing cold water, hot and cold water, or the newer version that can dispense hot and cold water as well as at room temperature. Bottled water coolers are fast replacing regular water bottles, since they free space by doing away with storage of bottles, and provide clean quality drinking water as well, and are almost maintenance-free! Cool, isn’t it?

Are you seriously planning to buy a water dispenser? Well, we’ll weigh the pros and cons for you.

At first sight, Ebac watercoolers seem environmental-friendly, but they consume enough electricity to cough up emissions from 700,000 vehicles! So, look for coolers that are well insulated or have an attached timer – that could help you save 60-70% on energy bills and help conserve on the cooling and heating when they are on low demand.

The water cooler company sends their men to your house to install your machine, which would take anything between 15 to 45 minutes. They’ll do the servicing for your machine as well and will change the filter for you once every six months.

Lastly, customers usually prefer the filtered water cooler over the bottled one since the former does away with the idea of changing the bottles, hence saving costs and takes up less space and since they are sealed units, the growth of unwanted microorganisms is reduced. So what are you waiting for? Go quench your thirst now!

The Verve Energy drink is becoming well known as a healthy energy drink. Energy drinks are popularly advertised these days and appear to be in all places. This is not so startling given the fact that energy drinks are supposed to offer anyone the boost of energy that they want for a certain period of time. Energy drinks occur in varying blends and with different ingredients but almost all of them have one ingredient -or rather two ingredients- in common: Caffeine and sugar. Energy drinks occur in several sizes, tastes and flavors and are desirable to just about anyone. It is apparentthat energy drinks are indeed Vigor boosters. However, to be able to ascertain why it is capable of producing the needed amount of energy, it is significant to look at some of the ingredients that are on hand in the average energy drink.

1. Caffeine: we are all very familiar with caffeine and its consequenceson the body. When taken in the accurate quantities and with milk in coffee, it can indeed be an energy booster and increase your energy levels enormously . Caffeine is also promptly found in drinks like Coke, and Pepsi which you will agree can perform as short term energy boosting drinks. While the caffeine available in the average Pepsi bottle and a cup of coffee is still acceptable , the amount of caffeine in the average energy drink is way beyond the normal requirements. Medical experts suggest between 200-300 milligrams of caffeine per day. But energy drinks have way too much caffeine content -about 280 milligrams per bottle- which is what inducesthe sudden burst of spirit.

2. Guarana: This is akin to caffeine in a sense but different in function and in concentration. It is not promptly found in all energy drinks. However , it has enough stimulant properties to increase your energy levels. Guarana is not very popular among us here in the West, though it has its origins in South America.

3. Sugar: I am certain you got some of it at the moment. a lot of energy drinks are loaded with sugar which is healthy when taken modestly . But in excess quantities is accountable for increased weight, large calorie content in the body and excess fat.

4. Gingko Biloba: This herb has become more popular with time and was initially brought into limelight by ayurvedic experts and alternative therapists who were commending it for the alleviation of stressful experience in many emotionally stressed and depressed people . It functions by stimulating the brain to release some hormones that are released into the bloodstream to get rid of the stress causing agents in the body.

5. Ginseng: This herb has become popular in posh times alongside Gingko Biloba. It is familiar for its ability to reduce the stress levels in the body and freeing up an individual’s energy level. Ginseng is also promptly found in most aphrodisiacs and sexual enhancement pills.

6. Antioxidants: The regular healthy energy drink also contains a varying amount of antioxidants which help get rid of the free radicals available in the body as a result of common cellular functions. However , there is still some controversy surrounding the consequences of the antioxidants in energy drinks in contrast to those naturally available in fruits or in a nutritional supplement.

Anyway, these are some of the components of energy drinks and are mostly what causes the spirit boost. One thing must be noted though: energy drinks are not the model solution to reduced energy levels. A fit lifestyle with good nutrition is a solution, and drinking the Verve Energy drink contributes immensely to good health.

Just after my daughter, our second child was born my health was bottoming out and I was feeling very tired and lethargic all the time. I’d spent a lot of time with doctors and consultants, and every time I was told the same thing - you’re fine it must be stress.

I finally went to see an alternative health therapist one day who recommended I should look into doing a detox, and put some effort into learning how to detox the body and eliminate the build up of toxins in my body. It seemed a lot of people had a lot of good things to say about it, so took it upon myself to learn as much about the process as possible, and get to grips with what is really involved and why the natural health industry advocate healthy detox diets and recommend starting with the week detox so avidly.

She also hinted to me to try a simple detox foot pads. I have a foot spa two or three times a week now, if I have the time, but if you don’t have one of those, those foot detox pads can work just as well - but doing it this way you miss out on the relaxing foot massage at the same time

So here’s my top tips about how to detox your body.

Lots of water and herbal teas

One of the most important things you need to is drink lots of water while you are following a detox diet because the water will help your body excrete toxins from your system. Drinking plenty of water also has other health benefits like promoting regular bowel movements, improves concentration, and improves your complexion. Your goal should be to drink about 8 glasses (or 2 liters) of water each day, and a good bit more in hot weather or on your exercise days.

As a rough guide, for every hour that your exercise each day, drink an extra 2 glasses of water. Choose still mineral water, or tap water that has been filtered, or boiled and then cooled. Try to store your water at room temperature rather than in the fridge. If you don’t always fancy water, herbal teas - loose leaf is better than tea bags as it hasn’t been processed as much. Green tea, horsetail, camomile and roibosch (or redbush) are particularly good as their essential oils help the detox process. Roibosch (Redbush) tea has extra punch as it is rich in antioxidants.

That Seems Like A Lot of Water

It’s actually quite easy to drink that much water when you know how. Prepare a glass with a little root ginger or some fresh lemon juice instead of (or as well as) your morning coffee - this is a great way to activate your metabolism and bowel then have more water whenever you take a coffee break.

Aim to have a glass whenever you eat, if you make tea of coffee during the day drink water as well, another during the evening and perhaps a final glass of water last thing at night. As I mentioned above, you can replace some glasses of water with herbal teas.

Fresher Food Is More Nutritious

You should be looking to buy your food in as fresh a condition as possible and eating most of your fruit and vegetables raw, for example as snacks, crudites, salads, and juices. Raw fruits and veg are still full of all their natural enzymes, vitamins and minerals. If food is kept too long, or if it has been cooked or processed in any way, it kills the natural enzymes.

Buy locally grown produce if you can, ideally from farm shops and local markets- imported produce is usually harvested under ripe (so it will be short of it’s full vitamin and mineral supply) and will have a longer time to lose nutrients on it’s trip to the supermarkets.

Is Organic Better

Buying organic produce where possible is better for your health but not totally necessary, unless you can afford it, but a little organic produce will go a long way to getting you started.

It’s not a major problem if you can’t get hold of any organic produce. Just eating plenty of fresh fruits and veg is more important, whether they are organic or not, than skimp on quantities. However, there are some good reasons for eating organic food on a healthy detox diet.

Artificial fertilizers and pesticides are banned from production of organic foods, so they have very little or no potentially toxic man made chemicals. Although it’s a controversial area, there is mounting evidence that the cumulative impact of pesticide residues can cause long term health problems.

By comparison, organic foods are processed much less than non-organic. That means they contain no hydrogenated fats, artificial additives, preservatives or genetically modified organisms (GMOs). Certain organic foods taste better and have more flavor.
