I’m the first to admit that I haven’t exactly embraced a healthy diet, by healthy I mean the types of food, not the amounts because I’ve certainly cut down on the amount I eat as part of my diet. I’ve ate everything from fish and chips, to burgers, to all day breakfasts with 3 egg omelettes and I’ve still lost weight. The key for me has been not the types of food but rather the amounts, this was a conscious decision from the start because I wanted to give myself a routine I could stick to long term, I love food! In fact I love fatty, tasty food!
However there is one food that has disagreed with me every time I’ve ate it in the past 6 weeks and that’s pasta. Each time I have a pasta dish for my main evening meal the next day I feel lacking in energy, lethargic and bloated. It has a serious effect on the amount of work I can do in the gym. Last night we had spaghetti bolognaise and today I’m really struggling.
I don’t think it’s the amount either, like I said I’ve really cut down on portion size now, it’s just the make up of pasta that obviously doesn’t like me. So that’s my number one tip at the moment, unless you’re planning on burning of the energy of a pasta meal straight away don’t eat the stuff if you want to lose weight. Not only is it loaded with calories (honestly it puts a plate full of chips to shame) but it also can cause problems the next day.
