…doesn’t really work!  The wife and I have just spent a week enjoying the sights and sounds of Las Vegas and I don’t think it’s done our diets any favours!

From my point of view I’ve been looking at putting on weight, basically during my heavy weight loss period I lost a little bit too much weight and now I need to put some back on.  Unfortunately for me even despite the big portions of mainly meat dishes the amount walking we did combined with the intense heat meant that I came back 1 pound lighter than what I went.  I now 100% convinced that either there is something wrong with me or that my metabolism is now at the sort of level that it was when I was 12!  Either way I’m finding it very difficult to put on any weight.

On the other hand my wife moved from her 1200 a day calorie controlled diet to eating “normally” whilst in Vegas.  Combining protein rich meals with Cocktails has the disastrous affect of putting on 5 pounds in 1 week, even with doing the same amount of walking as what I was doing.  This just goes to show how much affect your metabolism has on your weight, my wife prefers to diet by eating less whilst I have mainly relied on exercise and calorie burning.  With the same calorie intakes and the same amount of exercise it was interesting to see the different results on our bodies.  Personally I think that increasing your metabolism through exercise and muscle mass is a better long term strategy if you’re looking to control your weight.
