I decided to find the time to go to the gym again yesterday, whilst I was happy enough with my first trips effort I was a little disappointed at the amount of fat I was burning. To only do 35% must have meant that I was either not pushing hard enough or pushing too hard, seeing how hard I was sweating I would have guessed it was the second!
First things first, going to the gym after work for a newbie like me was quite a daunting experience, it was packed! It didn’t help as well that it seemed to be the time of preference for all the “gym bunnies” and “muscle huggers”. An overweight joe average person like me stood out, well in my mind I did anyway. Seeing as how I was there though I figured what the hell and just got on with it (headphones help with this, honestly) Because of having to wait around to use some of the equipment my workout was longer than the previous days at 53 minutes during which I managed a grand total of 589 calories, I was very pleased with this. The best bit for me was the 30 minutes on the cross-trainer, by going a bit slower it made the whole experience just that little bit more enjoyable, not only that but I managed to increase my fat burning to 40%. I’ve gone from burning 188 fatty calories to 235 just be going a bit slower. In that half hour I covered 5.3 kilometres (at least I hope it was kilometres), I figure that dropping to around 5 might have even better results. As an added bonus because my lungs weren’t making a break for freedom through my mouth I even managed 5 minutes of very light weight work. All in all a good session topped of nicely by that great post exercise buzz.
So that’s 2 days in and still going well. Today is a no gym but cereal for breakfast and lunch day. I’m mixing things up by trying two different types of cereal but even so I wouldn’t want to do it every day. Spaghetti Bolognese for dinner can’t wait.
