OK so it’s not been the best day to start my new regime but I’m getting through it. To start with all breakfast plans had to be scrapped due to a lack of cereal, nobody to blame but myself there. Breakfast is the most important meal of the day and you need it to kick start your body, I settled for having some cereal in the office instead. Then when I left the house it was pissing down which made my walk a real nightmare. I literally had to drag myself off the bus those few stops early and walk in the freezing rain but I suppose will power is an easy thing to have if you’re not doing anything difficult! I arrived at the office via the shop (to pick up some breakfast). A nice early pint of water and then on with the work, except that my new monitor was broken and will have to go back. Not being able to work without a monitor I decided an early lunch was called for and so I headed for the gym.

This is the first bit of real exercise I’ve done in a long LONG time. It hurt. I managed 43 minutes, 30 of which were on a cross-trainer, 3 sets of 40 sit-ups and a good old stretch of the back and legs. None of this was easy and at one point I thought I was going to throw up on the cross-trainer. In the end my all singing all dancing watch has told me that I’ve burnt 537 calories (35% of which were fat) and that I spent 15 minutes in the fat burning zone. What I think this is trying to tell me is to go slower next time, remember my goal for these 2 months is to lose a stone, not get super fit. What I will say though is that I got a great buzz afterwards from doing the exercise, no commitments but I might try and go more than 3 times a week.

Seeing as how I couldn’t work at the office I’ve come home to work for the afternoon. That means a ham and salad wrap for dinner and I’ll probably share a pizza with my daughter afterwards. All in I’ve worked out that me calorie consumption for today (including one cup of tea tonight) will be around 1400 calories. I don’t think that’s an excessive amount but it will be interesting to see how this reflects in any weight loss for the first week?
